EnlightenJourney

Empowering Your Path

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how EnlightenJourney (“we”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use enlightenjourney.org and app.enlightenjourney.org (the “Service”). We operate the Service in connection with FAFLab at the University of Essex and partners.

1. Information we collect

2. How we use it

We use this information to create and manage your account, deliver courses, operate community features, keep the Service secure, communicate about your account, and improve the platform. We do not sell your personal information.

3. AI features

If you use AI tools in the Service, the text or images you submit are sent to the providers that power those tools so a response can be generated. Image generation currently uses Google Gemini. Text generation currently uses Venice AI. Do not include passwords, payment details, or other people’s personal data in prompts.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only as needed to operate the Service: hosting and infrastructure providers, the AI providers above when you use those features, and professional advisors or authorities where the law requires it. Partners involved in delivering EnlightenJourney (including FAFLab / University of Essex) may access information as needed to run the programme.

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to protect the Service. You can block cookies in your browser, but some parts of the Service will not work without them.

6. Retention

We keep account and learning records for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards if we need them for security, legal, or operational reasons. You may ask us to close your account.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us through the Service or via FAFLab.

8. Security and international transfers

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. The Service is hosted on cloud infrastructure and may process data outside your country, including where our AI providers operate.

9. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country). If you believe we have collected information from a child, contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.

11. Contact

Privacy questions can be sent through the Service or via FAFLab.
